Nathan is the Founder and Managing Partner at Banks Legal with 12 years of UAE legal experience.
Nathan has broad experience across all aspects of corporate, commercial and business law. This is coupled with an extensive transactional history, acting on numerous acquisitions and dispositions for clients across various jurisdictions.
Nathan has a keen interest in understanding his clients' businesses and commercial and strategic objectives. Coupled with the support of his experienced team, Nathan prides himself on providing clients with responsive and commercially driven business solutions. Nathan has robust legal and commercial skills, plus an experienced track record of successfully managing and completing transactional matters, across different industry sectors and complexity.
Prior to establishing Banks Legal in 2009, Nathan spent seven years working for top tier law firms in New Zealand before joining the Dubai office of the international law firm Clyde & Co in 2005. He then joined Nakheel as Senior Legal Counsel for Nakheel's Joint Ventures Business Unit in 2008.
Nathan holds an LLB (first class honors) and a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Economics) and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1998.

Andrew is Partner at Banks Legal with 10 years of UAE legal experience.
Andrew has extensive experience across all aspects of corporate, commercial and business law. His expertise is particularly recognised in the area of Foreign Direct Investment, having advised numerous cross-sector clients on all aspects of UAE market entry and regional expansion and restructuring.
Andrew's clients rely on him to deliver pragmatic legal solutions, whilst keeping commercial considerations sharply in focus. He is known as a ‘go to' advisor when it comes to traversing the legal and regulatory hurdles associated with operating in the region.
Prior to joining Banks Legal in 2012, Andrew worked for a top tier New Zealand firm advising on major oil and gas transactions, before spending 5 years in the Dubai office of the international law firm Clyde & Co from 2007. During this time, Andrew gained in-house experience whilst on secondment to global education provider GEMS Education.
Andrew holds an LLB and a Bachelor of Arts (History and Politics) and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2005.

Pier is a senior corporate and commercial lawyer with 15 years' experience in the UAE, previously as partner in the Dubai office of the international law firm Taylor Wessing. Prior to joining Banks Legal, Pier was General Counsel & Company Secretary at GEMS Education. In his native South Africa he worked as in-house counsel for listed mining giants Anglo American and AngloGold. Relocating to Dubai in 2002, Pier took up a position as group legal advisor at Emirates National Oil Company.
Pier spent a substantial part of his career in-house advising boards and senior management on complex global legal and strategic commercial issues. Clients value his pragmatic approach and deep understanding of the demands of clients’ businesses.
Pier’s practice includes corporate and corporate finance, private equity, cross-border mergers and acquisitions, disposals, international joint ventures, corporate restructurings, compliance, corporate governance, in-house and legal department management, commercial dispute resolution, complex commercial transactions, and general commercial and contract law. Pier has particular expertise in the natural resources, energy, education and hotel and leisure sectors.
Pier holds BLC and LLB degrees from the University of Pretoria, and a graduate diploma in compliance from the Manchester Business School (in association with the International Compliance Association).

Amir is a Senior consultant at Banks Legal and Corporate Services with over 23 years of legal experience. He has practiced law in the UAE for the last 22 years.
He has vast experience advising on a range of matters including: company establishment, trademark registration, labour law and general government liaison work.
Amir is well informed on local dynamics and provides a highly efficient and results orientated service.
Prior to joining Banks Legal and Corporate Services, Amir worked for a prominent Dubai based international law firm for 5 years. He also spent 15 years working for the Abu Dhabi Criminal Investigation Department.
Amir holds an LLB from Cairo University and was admitted to the Sudan Law Society in 1993.

Mariana is a Consultant at Banks Legal and Corporate Services with 15 years UAE legal experience.
Mariana has experience in the areas of corporate and commercial law, real estate, intellectual property and employment law. She is experienced in all phases of litigation, including document control, database management, drafting discovery documentation as well as assisting with arbitration and trial preparation.
Mariana’s clients value her solid work ethic, excellent level of service and attention to detail. Mariana takes a client-centric approach by providing timely and commercial advice to ensure the success of her clients’ transactions.
Mariana advises on general corporate and commercial matters, including all commercial aspects of company formation, real estate transactions, licensing and corporate administration and assists the firm’s clients with all their trademark, copyright and patent applications.
Prior to joining Banks Legal and Corporate Services, Mariana worked for 9 years as an in-house paralegal for a large Dubai-based multinational FMCG organization. Before that, she was employed at law firms in Dubai and South Africa.
